Good new for Android users: Amazon’s Appstore hasn’t done much to take the attention off the Google Play Store, but its free app of the day was a nice feature. Now, the company is getting rid of that, replacing it with Amazon Underground. This now gives users tons of paid apps and games for free.
Actually, Amazon regularly partners with major application developers. They still get paid for the work they do for creating the apps while users can download and enjoy their application free of cost. This new free app from Amazon let you down any premium application, a game without paying a penny. Isn’t it super cool?
The Underground app is built within Amazon’s regular app. With an Underground tab in the department’s drop-down menu, you’ll immediately notice how all of the free apps & and games that have been designated as “Underground” by Amazon will have a sash/banner that says “Actually Free” located in the upper left-hand corner of the app’s avatar/icon.
Like most of Amazon’s Android offerings, you can’t get it on the Play Store. To download Amazon Underground to your device, you’ll need to visit amazon.com/underground on your phone. In the app, you’ll be able to browse free apps that are would normally be paid. Not only that, but Underground even offers many of the in-app purchases that apps offer for free, which means the deals extend beyond just the sticker price.
The free games aren’t just those poor quality bad match-3 style games, but games from big name developers like Artifex Mundi, Big Fish, etc. For a while, they offered PowerPoint, and a couple other Microsoft apps. You’ll find many another type of useful utility apps. Another positive note is they update their free “Underground” apps/games on a regular basis.
How to Download Amazon UnderGround
You’re required to download the Amazon app via Amazon.com, it’s not available in the Google Play Store. And the apps are downloaded directly from Amazon”s servers. You’re not redirected to the Google Play Store. So you’ll need to grant your phone permission to install from unknown sources. For beginners/novices, Amazon website will provide instructions on how to grant this permission. It literally takes at the most 30-45 seconds to change this setting on your phone.
